Project Information
Birds
To date, almost 9,000 living bird species have been identified and divided into twenty-eight orders depending on their different characteristics.
Crabs, Prawns and Insects
Largest in number of all animal phyla, these creatures have a body divided into head, thorax and abdomen each with a pair of jointed limbs all covered in a hardened exoskeleton.
Dugongs
Dugongs and Manatees are both marine mammals and members of the Order Sirenia. There is only one species of Dugong and three species of Manatee.
Environmental Issues
For centuries, humans have exploited the Earth's natural resources, without any consideration given to ecological cost.
Fish
Fish are cold blooded with a streamlined shape and bilateral symmetry, meaning the left and right sides are identical.
Frogs, Toads, Salamanders and Newts
Amphibians have skin that is soft, moist, without scales and permeable to water to help them to stay moist.
Hydroids, Jellies amd Coral
These animals have a simple body plan with a single internal cavity containing both their digestive and circulatory functions.
Polar Bears
Polar bears are the largest land carnivore eating animals like ringed seals and bearded seals.
Seals
Seals are marine mammals who are divided into three families - Eared seal, True seal and Walrus.
Snails, Slugs, Shellfish and Octopus
Snails, slugs, shellfish and octopus have soft mucus coated body, with no limbs or segments, protected by a hardened shell.
Snakes, Turtles and Crocodiles
Comparatively few reptiles occur in the marine environment. Those that have adapted are turtles, tortoises, crocodiles and sea snakes.
Spiny Skinned Animals
Starfish, brittle stars, sea urchins and sea cucumbers are considered spiny skinned animals because of their spiny outer skin.
Sponges
Sponges are simple, multicellular animals. All sponges live in water, and anchor themselves to something solid like rocks on the sea floor.
Whales
Whales are a unique group of mammals. Their acute senses, streamlined bodies and thick layer of insulating blubber enables them to survive in diverse marine environments.
Worms
Free living, flattened worms with a simple body plan who live at the low tide level in coarse sand and under rocks and feed by gliding over rock surface eating small invertebrates or dead organisms.
History and Development of Sea World
Following its origins as one of the Gold Coast's pioneering tourist attractions, Sea World has developed into Australia's leading marine park with a truly international standing.
Marine Mammal Training
The care of Sea World's marine mammals is closely intertwined with training. Training assists Veterinarian and Curatorial staff to form a more complete picture of an animal's health.
Marketing Strategy of Sea World
Each week, we receive many requests regarding the marketing strategies of Sea World. Unfortunately, these strategies are often commercially sensitive and are, therefore, not available to the general public.
