SEA WORLD’S BABY POLAR BEAR TAKES ITS FIRST STEPS!

Sea World's Baby Polar Bear has reached another crucial milestone, taking its first steps just 9 weeks after its birth. The cub, which now weighs approximately ten times its birth weight at 6kg is about the size of an eight week old Labrador puppy and growing fast. In preparation for Liya and the cub's next step, Sea World has nearly completed construction of a $1.5M extension to Polar Bear Shores which will allow Liya and the cub, as well as the twin male bears Hudson and Nelson to be viewed by the public at the same time.

TAKE UP THE PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE 2013

Premier Campbell Newman and Education, Training and Employment Minister John-Paul Langbroek have launched the seventh annual Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC). The PRC provides an ideal opportunity for students, parents and teachers to share a commitment to reading in schools and at home. Last year 118,000 students state-wide took part in the Premier’s Reading Challenge, up from 111,000 the previous year with hopes for another increase in participation rates this year. The challenge involves Prep to Year 4s reading or experiencing 20 books and Years 5 to 7 reading 15 books between 14 May and 6 September 2013. Students who meet the challenge will receive a certificate signed by the Premier and take part in the PRC celebration weeks from Monday 11 November to Friday 22 November. Registration is now open online at www.education.qld.gov.au/schools/readingchallenge. Village Roadshow Theme Parks is pleased to partner with the PRC’s 2013 other sponsors the National Rugby League’s One Community, media partner The Courier-Mail and program partners are The State Library of Queensland and MS Readathon.

CREATIVE GENERATIONS

A cast of more than 1,500 state school performers from across Queensland will perform alongside some of Australia’s leading performing artists in a cutting-edge arena event that includes a mix of musical genres such as classical, rock, pop, hip-hop, musical theatre and jazz. This award-winning youth production Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage showcases the wealth of talent in Queensland state schools and has evolved into a renowned entertainment and educational event. Creative Generation – State Schools Onstage 2013 which will be staged at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday 19 July and Saturday 20 July 2013. Tickets will be on sale Monday 15 April 2013, for event information, visit the website.

NEW PRESENTATION AND ATTRACTION FOR SEA WORLD

Sea World has launched its amazing Dinosaur Island, new programs have been designed to include Dinosaur classification, habitat and diet to support differing year level excursion needs.

FOOD & BEVERAGE POLICY

Please note that pre booked education groups are exempt from the Village Roadshow Theme Parks Food & Beverage policy, and are allowed to bring food & beverage items including eskies and coolers into the parks. We recommend on the day of your visit that you present your student ticket to gate staff if queried on your lunches.
