April 25th marks World Penguin Day a day dedicated to raising awareness about the health and conservation of these amazing creatures.
Join Sea World and the Research & Rescue team in park on Saturday 21 April to celebrate this special day, with a range of activities
- Discovery Quest
There’ll be an exciting Discovery Quest activity at the Penguin Encounter Exhibit which you can do anytime during the day. Simply collect your Discovery Quest activity sheet at the front gates, find the answers to the Penguin facts and go in the draw to win a two night stay at Sea World Resort, as well as an unforgettable experience with the Penguins.

- Kids Penguin Crafts at the Plaza
Join our Marine Education staff in Sea World’s Plaza between 10am and 4pm for fun and informative crafts and activities. Create a penguin headdress, make a penguin ID bracelet to match your favourite penguin, and test your egg balancing skills!
Plus, purchase a playful Penguin Plush Backpack or a Penguin Plush Walker on the weekend and help us make a difference. 20% of Penguin plush sales will be donated to Penguin Projects funded by the Sea World Research & Rescue Foundation.

- Exclusive Penguin experience valid for two adults and two children.
- Children must be older than 5 years of age
- Participants must be able to speak and/or understand English, or have a translator participate in the program with them. There are no complimentary programs for translators. Persons acting as a translator must advise staff at the start of the program. Translators must satisfy all criteria.
- Participants must wear all approved clothing including safety glasses.
- Participants are not to wear any visible jewellery unless protected by the approved protective clothing.
- Participants must not have any open cuts or infections.
- Participants must not have ANY pre-existing knee, pelvic or back injuries.
- Participants must follow directions quickly to the satisfaction of staff.
- Participants must follow all safety instructions during the duration of the tour.
- Participants must be able to quickly exit the back of house area unassisted.
- Participants must not have come into contact with any bird species in the previous 8 hours.
- All personal belongings and effects, including bags, are not permitted on the tour and will remain in the Polar Room. Please ensure valuables are stored in a coin-operated locker prior to arriving for program.
- Photography is not permitted whilst in the back-of-house areas including on the ice.
- Based on medical advice, participants must not be pregnant.
- Guests with disabilities are asked to call customer connect on 13 33 86 directly to determine suitability to participate in the program. Please note limited number of special needs programs are available for people with disabilities that otherwise prohibit them from participating.
- All participants, or a legal guardian (18 years or over), will be required to sign a liability release form and criteria check-list before beginning the program.
