Ocean Clean Up 2023

Sea World Foundation’s Ocean Clean Up is back bigger and better than ever on Sunday, 3 December 2023 at The Spit!

We’re calling on all ocean lovers to help us care for our beautiful seaway. Dive below the surface to remove rubbish from our marine ecosystems or contribute to the cause by helping us pick up litter along the shore. Then, celebrate with live music and a mouth-watering barbecue.

Event Schedule – Sunday, 3 December 2023

10:30 am: Check in opens

11:00 am: Safety briefing (required)

11:15 am: Beach and sea clean up commences

12:00 pm: High tide SCUBA dive

1:00 pm: Live music and a delicious barbecue lunch

2:00 pm: We bid adieu until next year!

What can you do to make a difference?

Stop ocean debris before it gets there

  • Pick up all rubbish you see wherever you see it
  • Alert council to areas of concern in canals or waterways
  • Join other groups’ clean up efforts on-land or in the water

When you’re about to dive

  • Scout the local area for rubbish and debris
  • Make sure the tape on your cylinder goes straight in the bin
  • Alert authorities to illegal dumping or fishing
  • Always take a rubbish bag and a knife with you on dives
